Making Wine Out of Lemons

red7red5red1red6

Pants? Joe Fresh Silk shirt? Thrifted Sweater? Gap, thrifted Shoes? Aldo, thrifted Jacket? Danier Hat? UO

Apparently it is actually going to stop raining tomorrow. This is good news. We were working on a new ark but the allen key got lost. It's also good news for picture taking; looking at the rain streaks in the pictures above is a little depressing. But the point is, I am getting dressed, even in this cold, miserable rain. No, I didn't think I would be wearing layers and cords in mid-May (I was picturing dresses and maybe a skort... hmmm.. good idea, I should thrift a skort) but the weather has a mind of its own; it doesn't even listen to tweets. But you know the saying, when life hands you lemons... you whine about it.

In the interview I did with Cubicle Chic about my job, I said one of the keys to success in the landscape industry was not whining. This week I have been whining. It's true. It's hard to remember why you like your job and why you always step up to defend it, when you can't feel your hands and you need a 45 minute hot shower to warm up after work. We work through the cold in early spring and late fall but somehow, it just seems so much more cruel in May. If it doesn't warm up soon, I am just going to continue whining... which will inevitably lead to wining.

I surely can't tell that you're wining - you look great, love the mixing of the red color family and the hat!

Oh was that an Ikea ark you were building there? Yeah the allen wrench is essential. Also I tend to douse my whines in beer which suddenly seems like so uncultured and unpunny that now I need a beer.

I've never had the nerve to wear oxfords because I never think they look good on me. With your long legs though, they're perfect!

Seriously, this May weather is absolutely insane. Congrats on your interview!

You don't look at all whiny which is the plus. I am loving and coveting those red pants. I have been trying to thrift red denim (or white denim to dye red) for about 6 months with no luck... yet.

You go ahead and whine! This spring has been a little whiny to be honest :-)

First of all, I think we are all whining. This weather is b.s. I want my skirts!

On the other hand, if we have to dress for rainy cold weather, this is the way to go! You look terrific. I am pinning this lovely number.

Wining will warm you up a lot faster than whining...

Your weather looks exactly like mine. I'm so tired of the rain, but I'm trying to think positive thoughts...like how it's helping put out fires burning along the front range. *sigh* Know you're in good company. And maybe the sun will com out tomorrow so we can all wear short shorts and cute sandals!

the good thing about wine is that it keeps you warm in the chilly rainy cold. right?

I cannot believe how awesomely amazing your thrifting skills are. I want everything here, especially the little oxfords! So, you know... when you run out of closet room, just send your stuff down the trans can and I'll be sure to pick them up.

And yes, this rain needs to stop, now. Just know that we're all drowning, though I'm inside all day so I guess I have no excuse for this over-sized glass of wine. meh. xx

I love the pants from Joe Fresh and I know I keep asking the same thing, but what size did you get?

I find it so difficult to shop there even though most of the time the price is just right!

big hips and small waist

Did these have to be altered as well?

A fine balance- They are a size 8 (haha, I just ran upstairs and checked). They are the cords from this past winter... I took in the leg seam to make them more pegged looking, else they looked like a messy, floody flare on me... Hope that helps?

Fabulous layering, I love the bright silk shirt peeking out! I'm still insanely jealous of your ability to pull off hats!

You have a little bit of an Indiana Jones feel going on here. Maybe that should be your rainy day hobby...finding historic artifacts and facing danger to save them.

i found this amazingly tacky skort yesterday that will be perfect for the summer (it's black with big hawaiian flowers on it). it's raining over here on the west coast, too, so don't get too down!

Cold this late in the season is definitely whine-worthy.

Just bought a pair of oxfords and will be using this outfit for inspiration!

You SHOULD be whining! I would've quit! Yes, I'm a wimp.

Love the red. You look so bright despite all the rain!

Uh, just spent an hour on the Danier website... never had even heard of them before now, and now am sure I will be buying all my leather stuff from them. It's like my holy grail! Thanks!
