Leggings vs. Pants

Boots? Winners Watch? c/o Daniel Wellington (here) Bracelet? My Oma's

These pants got a resounding thumbs up when I posted a quick snap shot of them on Instagram. And we all know we should be basing wardrobe (ie. life) decisions off of the number of 'likes' something gets on a social media outlet.
I admit the inspiration behind the slightly wacky pants are these leggings worn by a child under two years old.  Yeah, I saw a picture of Nat's son Huck wearing those funky leggings a few months ago and I guess the image stuck. Just to be clear though, while I was inspired by leggings, these are legitimate pants. They have a zipper and back pockets. Those are my standards. If you ever see me in leggings (and I am not watching TV surrounded by dirty dishes), you know something is wrong. Maybe I need a hug... or a Diet Coke.

Very cute pants! Yep, if they have a zipper and a back pocket that is a good sign that they aren't leggings.

Although, I have two pairs of jeans that are very confusing. One has a zipper, back AND front pockets, but they are definitely not denim on the inside. And then I have a pair of pants that are definitely denim, but do not have a zipper. Why can't all pants be the same!?

That was my pants vs. leggings rant for the night. Sorry about that.

First off, the pants look amazing on you. But, and you knew there was a but coming...they kinda look like leggings, but allow me to reiterate, you look awesome.

LOL I use those same characteristics in the classic leggings v. pants debate. I love these! And don't feel badly, thanks to Pintrest I happen to get many an outfit idea from babes. You make it work in a grown up way. And you have made a new Pin for me to aspire to. So thank you!

You are so cute, Jentine! I also get clothing inspiration from kids sometimes. :) You should come visit the Philippines sometimes. There are lots of thrift stores here with fab and super cheap finds! We could go together...

I am probably daydreaming again. Sorry. But I really hope you can come and visit. :) All I'm trying to say is that I am a huge fan of your blog. I found my style because of you and Kendi of Kendieveryday. :)

I really like the way you styled these pants and how you define pants :) You are inspiring me to get some patterned pants, since I don't have any.

Haha, I liked this post. I too once had standards about pants... until I got pregnant. When I got pregnant I discovered the beauty of jeggings (or "magic pants" as I fondly refer to them). My favorite were a pair I bought from Free People. They had back pockets, but no zipper (elastic top). They looked like legitimate pants but I wore them when I was my thinnest, all the way up to when I took my maternity photos at 38 weeks! These pants were there for me too during the 10 months it took me to get back down to my pre-pregnancy weight. :)

I am a committed member of the "Girls Who Love Skirts" but if I am wearing pants it will be pants. No leggings for this girl.

BTW... funny story.

Ha ha ha...you're so funny. I love the outfit! I sometimes have a hard time distinguishing jeggings from leggings, or skinnies from legging...but I think I'm safe because all of my pants have pockets and zippers.

i have a pair to match huck's (they ARE leggings though), but basically my point is, a photo of the three of us together in our matching bottoms needs to happen asap.

I saw similar leggings but with polka dots on my 1-year old cousin. It's really cute, and I wish I could get a grown up version!

I am considering printing your pant standards (zipper and back pockets) and putting it in the dress code for my student staff. Girls at universities LIVE in leggings as if they were pants! No no no!

I like your legit pants. :)

Beautiful legging print. Have a similar print as recently purchased two pairs of workout leggings and very happy to find them so cozy and flexible. My mom love them and asked me to buy her those as their print is awesome.
